After the Collapse

The apocalyptic event known as the ‘spatial collapse’ changed the fate of our world forever. In that moment the Celestial Heavens, its divine court and all the planes between were dragged through void into the realm of the mortal diaspora.

While many celebrated the arrival of their gods, others began to question the benevolence of their formerly invisible masters motivations. For even though the gods and their companions we’re now mortal some retained an otherworldly arrogance, a puritanical worldview and a desire for control.

In the wake of the disaster pacts were swiftly made with mortal lords and what emerged was the Celestial Empire, an aggressive and expansive divine theocracy headed by a chosen few from amongst the old pantheon, protected by an ever strengthening army of loyal followers and sustained by the vast and nightmarish departments of the so called ‘Angelic Bureaucracy’.

For decades now the Empire has continued to grow, consuming whatever traces of the old world cross its path. While there have been many attempts at fostering a rebellion each has ended the same way. The largest and most recent still weighs heavily on the minds of many and shook the continent to its very foundations.

As many former revolutionaries flee deeper into the frontier hoping to escape from their pasts, a more radical resistance is slowly beginning to pick up the pieces in their stead. For folks who have yet to give up hope of challenging the Empire’s domination, there may yet be a part for them to play in what is still to come.

After the Collapse is a Queer Occult Steampunk-ish tabletop roleplaying game about disheartened radicals trying to form communities, organize resistance and rebuild their lives in a rapidly industrializing world still recoiling from the aftermath of a failed rebellion against an all-consuming empire of the gods.

This is a game about the way people are reshaped by conflict and the bonds they share with friends and enemies alike as they work towards putting themselves back together and finding meaning. For some this might be getting their revenge and leading a second revolt against the powers that wronged them while for others it might be resolving leftover tensions with family and community or escaping from their past and finding a way to settle down and move on. 

2025 Update: We have temporarily taken down the old draft of the game and will soon be releasing a complete overhaul. This will streamline the rules, make the text a lot more consistent and fix a bunch of spelling and grammar mistakes. This new update will also be entirely free!  (ETA Late Feb 2025)
